Name the Art Show Contest
A hefty sum of loot, praise, honor and prizes will be bestowed upon anyone who can come up with a better name for the annual art show than the current title, Shine and Show. It's 2011, yo! Time to get rid of that old school moniker.
2011-2012
Welcome back!
Students will begin the year exploring the line. Students in kinder and first will review the different types of lines as they create their portfolio cover. Following the completion of their portfolio cover, second through fourth grade will receive a brief introduction to one-point perspective. As an artist, one of the most important skills to learn in drawing is perspective. It creates the illusion of depth and realism in work. I will begin working with sixth through eighth grade on a more detailed investigation of perspective.
Fifth grade will buck the linear trends and make some super cool name bug/monster creations for their portfolios. We will fly through this abstract shape/ color blending lesson and begin our work shortly preparing for a fall trip to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma.
If I have any parents that need share hours and don't shy away from a few pesky paper cuts, I have HUNDREDS of portfolios to be made, as each kid in the school (PreK - 8) will need one. I provide the paper and the tools, you provide the patience!
Eighth grade has already chosen their theme for the spring art show and it's going to be awesome.
Thanks!
